Description
"AAM" is a debut album by the band AAM, which is a multimedia project connected to the Cultural Association Ambrosia from Sarajevo. The release captures the essence of the band's artistic exploration from 1997 to 2000.
During 41 minutes the album offers a thrilling journey through diverse sonic landscapes filled with unexpected twists and powerful performances. It begins with Elvir Šahić's philosophical reflection on the meaning of Ambrosia, transitions into drum ‘n’ bass, and sets the stage for the next 40 minutes of pure, unfiltered energy.
Throughout the album, genres morph and intertwine, creating a unique sound that defines AAM. Listeners are taken on a wild ride from electro-rock and rap to EBM, breakbeat, industrial, electro-punk, and big beat, all under the influence of techno and acid house. The journey ultimately slows into a down-tempo trip, delivering a reflective yet satisfying conclusion.
In addition to its captivating musical composition, the lyrics of "AAM" contribute to its distinctive character. The songs avoid clichéd narratives and instead immerse in the "play of differences" and the virtual reality of urban existence. Marked by brevity, conciseness, and a touch of irony, these lyrics engage listeners in a thought-provoking and intriguing way.
In 2017, the album was remastered thus eliminating previous sound defects and significantly enhancing the sonic performance, giving new life to a record that remains timeless and fresh even after 17 years.
